July 2, 2013: Athens >> Delphie >> East Olympus

Today, before leaving Athens we stopped at the temple of Zeus.

Had it been intact, it would have been huge! Bigger than the Parthenon. But as it is, it's still pretty stunning. Then we packed up for Delphi. There was a nice little museum there, which would have been mo enjoyable if the workers were more pleasant. Now, I frequently get in "trouble" at ancient sites for sitting on something important, or taking pictures in the wrong spot. But never have I gotten in trouble for posing (as in smiling for a picture) in front of a statue and for slipping my foot out of my Croc. Keep your Crocs on people! All the same, it was cool to see the Temple of Apollo, where the Oracle of Delphi is supposed to have lived, inhaled toxic fumes, and stated prophecies. 

Tonight we ended up staying on the east foothills on mount Olympus in a by sweet, if slightly remote, hotel. And there are wild turtles in the garden. Always a plus to see tiny little tortoises.
