A Roundabout Way Home

Whitefish, Montana
So as you may have guessed from the title of the post, we ran into some trouble getting home from Montana... As happens when you're flying standby. With flights looking tight, and with Sofia with us on a buddy pass*, we had to get creative. Which meant flying to Salt Lake City. Trouble is, it seems everyone else had the same idea. The standby list to get home was looooooooong, and we were not at the top of it.
We try to relax, and go with the flow. After all, we knew what we signed up for flying standby. But stress levels were running high. All of us needed to get back for school. Luckily, three of us got on a 5:15 flight to MSP, but we had to leave Dad and Sofia behind. But Lady Luck was with us again, because Dad and Sofia got on a later flight to Minneapolis, making it back around midnight.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Grady, Mom and I debarked at about 9pm, and had to wade through the masses at the luggage carousel to get three roller bags, four ski bags, and four boot bags... Plus our backpacks. It's probably for the best that Pippin didn't get on the flight to Montana. Grandma and Grandpa picked us up and we barely fit in the car. Note to self- pack lighter, or bring a bigger car.
To watch the whole story, check out vlog Day 4, and to watch me do almost nothing except eat dinner, watch vlog Day 3.
Until the next trip,
Cristiana
*P.S. If you're not familiar with standby travel, there's a ranking system. Some airline workers have buddy passes for friends or family to travel standby at a cheaper cost, and that's all fine and dandy, but the buddy pass is lowest on the totem pole. Which doesn't matter if there's 50 seats open on a flight, but does matter when there are only three...
