June 7th, 2015: Cape Town

4:00am- Cristiana wakes up, shuffles around for a while, then goes back to sleep

11:00am- Cristiana is ungraciously awakened. Today brought with it a morning trip down to the Waterfront, where we had breakfast at the Market on the Wharf. I had a chocolate muffin (still not making the top 5. This one was good, but ranks under the one at the flight lounge. It was slightly dry, and had an almost nutty taste). 

 

1:00pm- We Hawthornes left John down by the Waterfront, and drove up to the Table Mountain cable car. Table Mountain is a must see if you're ever in Cape Town. The cable car is long, and fast. And it rotates as you ascend.  And the views were spectacular. 

And the entire top of the mountain was full of these little guys, dassies!

Try to tell me this isn't the cutest thing you've seen all day. 

After Table Mountain, we drove down to the Cape, to try to reach it before sunset. We got there too late, and it was closed. But we still got some good pictures of the sunset. 

We'lł have to save the Cape for next time. We ended up taking quite an unusual way back into Cape Town, and ended up going through some mountainous shanty towns. 

7:00pm- We finished up the night with a pretty good burger and fries at a rather mediocre restaurant/pub down at the Waterfront again. I also tried some Creme Soda, which, in contrast to it's American cousin, creme soda, is a bright fluorescent green color. Didn't taste too much different though. Maybe a little fruitier.
